i am going to help a poor negelected model year 2000 80 horse 4-stroke motor with some fresh fluid and do a water pump change.
poor thing can't even get water to the top of the powerhead/stat housing until you get to 2000 rpm. 'oh , that alarm has gone off for years', never changed the engine oil or the lower unit oil. it just makes me sick that the dealership doesn't call the owners on routine items when it was hauled in last year for jello in the carbs.
i have the manual , but any pointers from the masses. (i know an alpha merc drive requires the i/o to be in forward gear to remove the drive.) the owner picked up a yamaha water pump kit and exhaust seal, but will anything be required. i have an inch-pound wrench and some loc-tite. anything else?
