big difference in the two cracks.
the zuki crack is NOT in any oil sealed area and was normal for poorly maintained zukis.

the Yamaha crack MUST be welded and sealed or it will leak.
no amount of silly cone , yamabond or other snake oil will seal it.

typically that crack is caused by someone trying to remove the seal carrier.

Got it cleaned up and the jb weld is curing now. It will probably be another week before I'm ready to pressure test it, but I 'll let you know if it works. As an aside, after I got it cleaned up, it looks like somebody somewhere down the line probably forced the water pump base into the housing ****eyed rather than straight down and bolted it down that way resulting in the crack. There are scuff marks on the sealing surface of the housing that shouldn't be there and I'm going to have to clean them up too. That makes more sense than a manufacturing defect. Anyhow, I'm optimistic that my problem is solved. I'll report back in about a week.

usually it cracks when someone improperly removes the housing.
