  • F60 thermostat

Having some trouble with making oil and about to change thermostat.
Is there a hotter running stat available or are they all preset to open at the same temp ?

Is this a carburetted or fuel injected model?

2016 production year or earlier? It helps to know what motor you have.

        how much is it making?
        could be a t-stat.
could be a bad fuel pump diaphragm.

I guess I'll start by pulling out the stat and checking for corrosion.
          next I'll check the diaphram

          Thanks !

when you have it out you can test the stat in water as you heat it up with a thermometer in the water to see when it opens, how far it opens, and then when it closes to see if it operates in spec like your service manual gives.
Not sure if they make different ones for your motor.

            Boscoe might know

This is from a US 2004 F60TLRC , should be the same as yours?

                        probably import taxes involved

Just think of it this way, if you take it to a shop they will replace it and charge you for R&R + the part(with a mark up)
or charge you to R&R and test it which is a good amount per hour of labor for the testing.
If you do it yourself you can test using you own time
Anyway you look at it , it should be cheaper to do it yourself even if buying new parts

Just my luck, the first bolt breaks off clean about 1/2" from the head.
                            second one is free.
I can still run the motor, but the broken bolt will have to come out eventually.
                            Drill it, tap it ?
