  • BATTERY WILL NOT CHARGE

    I have a f115tlrd the motor battery will not charge. i am on my fourth battery. dealer says its the battery. Meter says its not charging. What can I check? The dealer is quite a ride and nonresponive to my questions.

    Jim,
    Put a voltmeter on the battery terminals and monitor the voltage when you run the motor.
    At idle, the voltage should be a min of 12.8 volts, and increase to 13.5 at WOT. From there, as the battery charges, the voltage should come up to approx 14.6 volts as the battery reaches full charge.
    If you can't get the above readings with a new battery, then you have a bad alternator/rectifier/regulator in the motor, or associated connections/wiring is bad.
