  • 2005 F150 won't immediately kill when turned off

My F150 won't immediately kill when I turn the ignition off. Takes about 30 seconds. Does the same thing when I pull the kill switch. Do I need to replace the ignition switch and kill switch or should I be looking for some other issue?

sometimes a quick knuckle rap on the ECU would shut them off.

my guess is you have an open circuit between engine ground and the white wire at the ECU.

unlike most 2 stroke EFI motors the 4 stroke has to power down.

at key off the ECU gets a shut down signal, then it has to cut off spark and fuel, reset the ISC and then shut itself down.

        F150 won't shutdown

Thanks for the tip. I took my cable plugs apart and cleaned them with contact cleaner. Then I applied a coat of 2-26 electrical coating. Fixed the problem.
