  • ox 66 250 hp high fuel consumption

have a pair of 2000 250 hp ox 66 engines on a 30' pursuit.Getting about.7 mpg at cruise seems very low and less at slower speeds.Good fuel, clean filters and vst screens.Should be much better from what i've read.Any Ideas?Heard 02 sensor could cause this.Has correct props according to books.Passed survey in spring.

in the water world we don't use MPG.
    to many variables.

we do use GPH or LPH.

that motor at or near wot can burn 25-28 gallons per hour.

at cruise you will blow about 10-12 GPH.

the O2 sensor is a fuel trim device wont affect much.

the regulator has a screen, if the screen clogs it spikes rail pressure.

will burn a lot of fuel and run rich.

Thanks for the reply .Presently burning 34 to 35 gph @ 4k rpms 27 kts.If I back off to 3500 still burns 30 gph (both engines).Still way too high. Are you referring to the vst screen?

easier to test the rail pressure to see if it is clogged or not.

motors turn up to 5 t0 5100 rpm under power.Rail .pressure with a leaky guage was 34 psi.Compression were all in spec.
