  • yamaha oil injection

I recently restored a y2k 115 two stroke Yamaha. I have her running great after going through a mostly normal maintenance checklist of fixes. the only problem I have left at the moment is I cant tell if the oil injection is working.

I added a little oil to the non-e fuel to be safe. but I took her out this past Saturday all day I got atleast 2-3 hours of run time, but the oil level in the outboard oil reservoir didn't really move. and I haven't really noticed any blue smoke.

How can I be sure my oil injection is working?

    thanks

mark the remote oil tank level. run it a few hours on premixed fuel.
look at the remote oil tank level.

Looking at the main engine mounted oil tank will fool you. It varies constantly between being full and being about half full. You might find it half full one time and then mostly full the next time, which will lead you to believe the oil level is rising and not going down.

The oil level in the remote tank will only go down. Until you add some oil.

Might not be a bad idea to test the low oil warning system to verify that it is operable, if you have not done so already.
