  • 150ETXJ fuel filter assembly

trying to find correct replacement part for the fuel filter assembly on the 150 ETXJ (1986) -- the part number shown in the guides is 6E5-24560-00-00.

Some parts sites show 6R3-24560-00-00 as the superseded part number, others show Sierra 18-79910 as the direct replacement.

Now that I have received the Sierra 18-79910 from a particular vendor, I am concerned that the Sierra part and the superseded part 6R3-24560-00-00 are both incorrect. The sierra part has 1/4 male hose fittings, and the superseded part appears to have 1/4 male hose fittings in the images on parts sites, and the entire 150ETXJ fuel system is 3/8 hose (the pumps, the carburetor, the fuel inlet connector are all 3/8.

Anyone have experience with this particular replacement part issue? How does one order the part with the 3/8 fittings? Is the superseded part number correct, and is there some sort of certified adapter?

6E5-24560-00-00 is the original part number for the filter assmbly. This part has been superceded by 6R3-24560-00-00.

A Yamaha part number will almost never be replaced by Yamaha with a non-Yamaha (Sierra) part number.

Yamaha's hose sizes are metric. Not English. Either 6 mm or 8 mm. If your motor has hoses with a 3/8th ID they must have been replacements by someone along the way.

      Thanks for your info Boscoe99.

My point is that the replacement parts have substantially smaller male couplings than the original. Given your info, I will imagine that the replacements are 6mm and that the original was 8mm.

The one vendor I had look at the 6R3-24560-00-00 from their shelf confirmed the smaller size male couplings.
