  • When you're done laughing PLEASE HELP

    New here. First post.

I have a 2000 Yamaha F9.9MSHY 9.9hp outboard. Starting it after a winters sleep I had no idle. Ran like #$%^. Decided it needed a carb cleaning. Removed it, took it apart and cleaned everything. Reinstalled and "viola", runs and idles fine.

Now my question. While cleaning up after completing the job, I found a spring in my parts dish. It's just over 1 inch long. I check the "parts list" forum for it but to no avail. All I can think of is it belongs in the "6G8-1410A-01-00 STARTER SET". That black can on top of the carb, that stop working years ago. I can't find anything that shows it's internals.

    Can anyone help? Thanks, Rick

Why in the world would we laugh? I have built a nice collection of spare parts from those left over after doing some maintenance!!

I was going to say the same.

Murphy's second law of nature: dismantling then reassembling creates nuts, bolts, washers, ball and needle bearings, circlips, all manner of springs, funny shaped plates, o rings and small gaskets.

This happens to everyone. No laughing matter if it's someone who has had experience.
