  • F250TUR drive shaft frozen

I jumped into another project, I'm converting my 30" motors into 25", It is not starting out well, I went to drop the lower and the shaft was froze up in the crankshaft, I tried all of the usual, shims, hammer, a bigger hammer, then I just cut the driveshaft since I really didn't need it anymore, then I drilled the shaft, tapped it and fashioned a puller if you will, my question is why does the shaft rust so bad on these things, I have heard of this happening but I have had yamahas for the past 25 yrs and never had a problem, I did grease my splines every 2 years or so, I am wondering why the seals in the bottom of the oil pump don't keep the moisture out?

25 cents worth of grease once per year solves that issue.
