Here is what I am trying to do and what I have to work with:

I have an older boat, 2001 Sport Cat, with even older motors, twin 1995 Yamaha 200's (L200TXRQ). The boat was extensively MacGyvered by the previous owner and I have been working on unfixing what he "fixed". Most notably, he removed the Oiler system and it is cost prohibitive to rebuild it, so now I just premix the oil and gas.

The old gauges were sun beaten to the point where I couldn't read the Tach's, so I replaced them with 6Y5-8350T-83's. I hooked up the Yellow, Green and Black wires. The blue has no corresponding lead on the engine side wiring harness, that I could find. The tach works but the trim does not (one bar flashing). The DIP switches are set as follows:
SW1 = Off
SW2 = Off
SW3 = On

So, my question is, do I absolutely need the wiring harness adapter, or can I jump the Pink wire from the Engine side harness to the pink wire in the tach four wire plug, to get the trim working?

I have not a clue as to what brand or model of motor is in question.

Why do you need the diagram? Why do you need the functions of the wires?

Wire colors may be different on the motor, different on the harness from the motor to the tachometer and different from the wire colors on the tachometer.

With Yamaha it is all plug and play. Colors of the wires are not an issue.

That is weird, when I posted that, the diagram was not there, now it is. Thank you.
Now, can you tell me what each wire is for? ie. yellow wire = trim up, ect....

You don't see the wiring diagram that you asked for?

Only talking about 12 short wires. About 10 inches long each I would guess. Four each to a nylon four pin connector (two connectors total) and four single wires to bullet connectors.

We are not talking about a complicated electronic device here.
