  • Hydraulic or Cable Steering

    '98 SW115TLR

Is my model hydro? Nothing in the manuals. Assuming it is bc how easy the wheel turns. If it is, where is the fluid reservior?

Also, while on plane the engine will creep starboard then eventually yank all the way starboard if my hand isn't on the wheel. Will an adjustment to anode fix this?

so are you saying you cannot look at the motor controls yourself and tell if it has cables running to it or a slave cylinder with lines?

      Yup, pretty much.

99% of all Yams come from the factory with no steering.

Cable and pulley steering can be added.
Push/pull cable steering can be added.
        Hydraulic steering can be added.
Power assisted hydraulic steering can be added.
A tiller handle can be added.

If it looks like this at the front it is hydraulic steering.

If it looks like this it is mechanical steering.

It's cable. Thanks for coming through boscoe. Sweet pics.

Suggestions on how to correct the starboard pull I described? Could just be a simple anode adjust. If not, then ??

Knew of a guy who was too sorry to replace a very worn anode and ended up in the grass. Should be able to take your hands off wheel while on plane with no issues.

Turns easy - sounds like you have a winner. I suggest learning annual maintenance so it stays that way and away from the shop, which takes longer to schlep to.
