  • 2006 yamaha f40tlr no spark

i have a yamaha f40tlr and it died on the lake.
I replaced the spark plugs and found out there is no spark from any of the three coils.
    Whats the next steps?
How does the firing system work?
The boat would run but hesitate between low speed to full throatle when in gear.
You could rev it up fine in neutral.
I took the carbs apart and cleaned them, replaced several fuel lines that where in bad shape.
could not get it running and checked for spark and nothing.
I have checked fuses and man overboard kill switch.
When motor ran it charged battery just fine.
    What could be the problems?
Im thinking stater, cdi, coils or maybe even wires.
    what do you guys think?
    Thanks for all replys!

I just took off the cdi box and it had water in it.
I am thinking that it got water in it some how and is fried.
Is there any way to test this box?

only way to get water in it would be to submerge it in water.
Did this motor go under water?

You can put it back on the motor and test it like the service manual calls for.
measure the peak voltages into and out of the CDI

No as far as I know the motor has not been submerged.
I tried drying it out in a warm place for a day and tested it and no go.
I ordered a new one and it will be here tomorrow.

think about it how would water get to the CDI where it is mounted?

unless someone removed the cowling and washed the motor with a water hose, the only other way would be to submerge the whole motor

I was thinking that the CDI is sealed.

The CDI is supost to be sealed but not very well.
The water was coming out where the plug in is in the unit.
              UPDATE
I received the new CDI today and installed it and this motor has never ran so good.
I bought the pontoon right before winter and took it out for the third time today.
              I am really relieved.
              Thanks for the support guys!
