One thing I realized is that this boat has been functioning for 12 years and nearly 300 hours with only the fuel filter in the engine. There is no additional fuel water separator on the boat. Does anybody know if this engine has the VST filter?

Yes it does but it's buried and does NOT separate water, strictly filters fuel.

The parts fisch , #18 shows the filter, screw #10 is a drain screw to drain the bowl (and most likely crap will come out):

        I'd strongly recommend a transom fuel/water separator:

There is a bit of grime under that right side transom scuppery looking thing.

Yea, I have to clean it up when I detail the engine, (pretty nasty and its due):

            Prop needs cleaning too
