Howdy - having a problem withdrawing the drive shaft so I can replace the impellor which is FUBAR. Doesn't seem like its a splined shaft which seems a bit weird.. Anybody able to help?

Parts catalog shows it as having a splined drive shaft.

Have you uncoupled the shift shaft?

Hi Boscoe99 thanks for your reply.
This motor has a direct drive - no gears as such, so motor running = prop turning and only in one direction. Its stock standard in that regard - typical small outboard.
I have tried gentle persuader (my old mans engineers hammer - which I am told ais far better than just aordinary one but made no difference. I don't want to bash it.
I've read somewhere that I mayhave to remove a circlip in the 'bulb' shaped box below the impellor location (don't want to confuse things and call it a gear box but it does contain cogs I guess) and with that removed the shaft etc does withdraw easily...

Any chance you could share that parts diagram with me?

best I remember that unit is held on by a bolt aft and a stud/nut fwd.
anyway makes sure the attaching fasteners are removed.
then it will either come off or the stud is corroded or the driveshaft splines have rusted to the crankshaft splines.
