  • 4hp spark plug boot

I have a 4hp 2 stroke (4ac) - spark plug boot to the plug pops off.

I have ordered and received a new one from boats.net, how do you install it?

Is it just a simple twist on and off connection to the wire?

    Thanks.

Seems like a sorta odd design with that spring?.... But I guess it works!

That spring set up is used on most lawn equipment and works very well.

The higher end caps have a small internal screw. The cap literally screws onto / into the wire.

Other ends (like after market automotive) strip the outside core off. The internal "wire" folds back and you crimp a connector around it-VERY secure..

easier method would have been to simply tie strap the boot to the plug.
            do it all the time.

yep that spring clip has been around on various makes since about the late 40's or longer.
