  • 07Merc Optimax 115ELPTO electrical problem

2 Stroke - Father in law accidentally crossed leads on battery charger to battery that was still connected to motor. It sparked and now motor won't start. What areas should I check to locate problem.
    THANKS

Ideally would be to take it to the mercury outboard forum.

I assume you mean it won't even try to turn over?

The first thing I would try... with any engine... follow the power wires from where they enter the motor casing to where they connect to the motor. You should find some sort of fuse setup. I can't offer any specifics, but if you have at least a base knowledge of electrical work you can kinda figure it out as you go - at least the relatively obvious stuff. Also, check fuses on the boat side, too. In other words, try to eliminate the easy stuff, first.
