  • Fule Management gauge with Twins

I just purchased a boat with two Yamaha 4 stroke engines with the round gauges.
Took it out *****ing and shut down the starboard engine and notice the Fuel Management gauge went blank of course along with the tach. So I turned the key on and recorded the fuel used indication and then turned it back off and *****ed for about 10 minutes. When I turned the key back on the starboard engine the fuel used indication had not changed. Why if the fuel management gauge is indicating total fuel used does it not work when one engine is turned off?

I also would like to find a manual for the gauges.

In a normal configuration the fuel management meter is powered by only one of two motors. If you turn off the motor that provides electrical power to the meter then it shuts off and simply stops recording fuel burn.

The manual for FMM is in the owner's manual. See page 24

Send me an email via PM and I will send you some data that shows how you can make your own harness that will power the gauge with either key switch turned on. Without one key switch providing power to the other motor.
