  • Oil pump priming

I have a 1992 40MJHQ pull start tiller. I just replace all the oil injection lines and check valves. Lines looked old and brittle. I started it with a 50:1 premix disconnected the oil pump link rod and held it against the stop for full oil flow as per the service manual. I seemed to take a long time to bleed the air out of the lines. How long should it take? Should i be looking to replace the oil injection pump also? Thanks.

I'd run your 6 gallons of pre-mix fuel dry keeping an eye on your Yamaha oil tank.

You just want to make sure it is using oil and the level goes down..

Once you confirm oil's going down, its should be fully primed and working...
