  • 2006 Yamaha txrd115 lower crank oil seals and housing

I need to replace lower crank seal on a 2 stroke V4.

Is it nescessary to split the crank case halves to remove the seal housing?

Not nescessary to to split halve, just needed to pry and make sure it comes out straight,.
Old seals do not face the direction shown in the factory service manual, should new ones be installed like the old or as pictured in the manual?

would help if you show pics.
I think service manuals should show correct, but I have seen wrong info in them before.
are there 2 facing in opposite directions stacked on top of each other

Just did some looking and the 115 TXRD is a 2005
and this is what the parts diagram shows

SM is consistent with the parts catalog. Both seals in the same direction.

Confusion often results when folks see that Yamaha takes a different approach to seal orientation than do some of the other motor makers.
