  • 2007 F150 Low Oil Pressure

    2007 F150
    LF150TXR 64P x 1007275
    1300hrs

I am getting low oil pressure on my port motor. I am also seeing a small slick on the water that looks to be coming from the Mid Section. There have been no alarms but at idle it sits at 1 bar on the tach. The pressure will rise smoothly with RPM. The engine is running great with no loss of power and the oil is clean and water free.
I have no history on the motor as far as if the Balancer has been changed but it runs very quiet and has never made the wining noise in the 200hrs that I have owned it.
I checked the pressure with YDS as follows:
    15 PSI at 700 RPM
    42 PSI at 1400 RPM
    67 PSI at 2000 RPM
When I pull it out of the water I will switch the sensor with my other motor but I have a strong feeling that it will not change anything!
Could a slow leaking crank seal cause such a drop in pressure?
    Thanks.

Just a wild stab, oil pump seal leaking, balancer is failing and blocking oil pressure.

      You are 100% correct!
I cut the oil filter open and it was loaded with green. I removed the balancer and the gear was destroyed! It never made any noise leading to it going (I'm always listening for it).
I have already torn it down and the pickup was blocked. Any pointers on how to clean out the block?

There is no easy way to clean out the mess, just time and patience with continued dismantling.
