i recently purchased a Yamaha 90 hp motor that is a 2018 model. When I went to buy it I did a compression test and the compression was terrible/ non existent. i bought the motor anyway as the oil was really clean and i could at least sell it for parts.
After looking at it it seams like the timing may be completely off and the root cause of the problem. This is a single cam motor. I have attached three images showing, 1) the crankshaft at TDC and the other image shows the Arrow 1 of the cam at 90 degrees to the right. Then the arrow for lining up the timing below.
i hypothesize that the cause of the issue is the timing being off and wanted to get your expert opinions. I could not find anything on this motor, i can only find info on the double cam motors.
thanks
Andrew
