  • 2000 Yahama 130 shut off

My 2000 Yahama 130 shut completely off when I mounted it on my new 2004 1720 KW Pro boat. I never had this problem on my old boat but I did mount the engine one hole higher on the new boat. I decided to test the top end limits of the boat, got it over 50 MPH with the engine trimmed up a bit, then it shut off. I started it back up, it ran rough at idle for a couple min., then was fine. But I didn't test at full throttle again. The water pump kit was just replaced and oil injection worked fine on the old boat. Was this some type of over rev protection or something else?

    Thanks for the help!

    What RPM did you hit?

Most two strokes, the recommended limit is 5,500 WOT loaded...

If you can sustain 5,500 W/O issue and it does rev higher, sounds like you may need to re-prop...
