I was talking to a friend of mine who has one of these 'kits' - software and cable connecting engine to laptop. Looked on this site found software - but it says 'not available'. Any thoughts as to where to get it or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place on this site. Engine is a 2005 225 TXRD

The software is no longer available from Yamaha USA.

The Marine (outboard motor) group of Yamaha USA made a decision to stop allowing their dealers to sell YDIS software. Boats.net is a Yamaha US dealer.
Since boats.net can no longer get YDIS software from Yamaha US that is why it shows up as "not available".
You now have to get the YDIS software from a non-Yamaha source.
The cable you can get from simyamaha.com. But not the software.
Now here is what is weird. The YDIS software is the same for an outboard motor and a Wave Runner. The outboard motor people at Yamaha US no longer allow the sale of the software but I think the Wave Runner people do. If so, it is two different groups under one parent that apparently disagree.Comment
