  • Steering Link Arm length?

I am converting my tiller steer 2 Stroke 25NMH to remote steering. I purchased a Yamaha 689-61350-02-00 steering Link Arm which is supposed to be suitable, but it appears to be too short. Should I be able to achieve the same full lock distance I can get with the tiller steer when I convert it to remote steering? Or do I lose the extra travel? The attached photos show the engine at full lock and the steering arm will be a couple of inches short.

Move wheel to centre position, (count lock to lock turns)fit arm and see where it lines up….sometimes you need to turn the wheel a bit one way, it gives you (sometimes) more lock one way than the other.

What sort of steering are you fitting? The standard cable steering goes through the tilt tube, I don’t see anything fitted there, so, it’s impossible to say whether the arm is short, long or just right! If you are fitting some kind of transom clamp for the steering, then you can mount it anywhere to adjust length.
