  • Think I'm SOL finding what model I have ,

THANK YOU MODERATORS & MEMBERS FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE -

    7 years owing a 30 foot cruiser - ( stick a fork in me done ) sold

anxious too get back too a trailer / fishing boat .

Purchased older GW 22 ft seaferer

    Yamaha 250 ,
    good compression each cylinder ,
hour water test ,handled good , original transom , no hollow sounds , figured would keep a year or two , clean boat with x- heavy duty trailer new tires ,

Questioned Seller about model number ? he did not know ?? , Figured I would find out at some point , not on registration

    1998 - 2001 ,
    OX 66
    2 stroke
    250 HP
    fuel injected

Looked behind computer , starter , nothing a marine friend , it should have been stamped top area of cooling manifold , on my model two bolts near thermostats , ( each side ) that's where it should have been , YOUR SOL

    Only numbers I found - stamped in a circle size of a quarter - raised letters front of engine - 61A - 03 - many parts have numbers stamped 61A - 00

Series of numbers stamped above computer - assuming its the computer numbers . CAN those numbers zero in on model ??
    1200-65LRRO80

Can computer with right equipment tell me year and model ?

    thanks for all your help

Did you look on the side of the motor bracket? There should be a plate there.

Here is my info, for reference. Most likely, you have the same model number (but of course different serial number) since it's on a comparable boat.

    2000 Yamaha OX66 250HP SX250TXRY 61AX103847T
    2000 Yamaha OX66 250HP SX250TXRY 61AX103847T
1982 Grady Weekender/Offshore (removed stern drive & modded to be an OB)

back in May when you posted about this Boscoe asked you to look for and post up some numbers on the CDI, but you never did.

      Why is that?

      From your original thread
Get the markings (letters and numbers) from the CDI box.

Inspect the block for a round decal with numbers on it. What are those numbers?

Inspect the starter motor for a tag. What is on that tag.

Let's try and narrow it down a bit.

Is the shaft length 20", 25" or 30"?

        A 20" shaft length would be a VX250TLR(?).

A 25" shaft length would be an SX250TXR(?) or LX250TXR(?). S being right hand turn propeller. L being left hand turn propeller.

A 30" shaft length would be an SXTUR(?) or LX250TUR(?).

The CDI should have some letters and numbers on it. What are they?

          For instance

Sorry never mentioned in post , There is a tag on bracket , Can't read
There is a circle stamped on block, size of a quarter 61A - 03
no numbers on computer but just above computer stamped in block 1200-65LRR080

if i measured correctly , looks like I have 30" shaft

            No starter tag ,
RE : not responding earlier response 99 YAM 40 - I had too put on hold , no spark starboard side all 3 cylinders , was dealing with that , water in seperator , No spark turned out too be elec wiring harness out of computer , yellow wire bullet connection had buried crud causing , now that I got it corrected and have spark , went back too finding what model I have , I did respond a private message too Boscue weeks ago ,
think I got all info too narrow this down
            thanks

If you sent him the info weeks ago, did you get a response back from him?
are you sure you sent it and he got it?
why did you not just post it in your thread where all can see it?

he asked about a decal not something stamped into the block.

also, you do not have a computer / ECU, that motor has a CDI box

                  Capacitance Discharge Ignition.
                  it controls the spark/timing

if you responded to his post on your old thread weeks ago it would bring it back up to the top so people can see the new input
