  • Tried all resources but come up blanks

I've tried wiring diagrams, looking for pix, forums but I'm just trying to find which wire goes to which wire from the ignition to the harness. Maybe I'm asking the question the wrong way.
    Thanks

I would think matching colors would work.
What is this thing you are working on?

in general red is 12V battery+
yellow is key on 12V +
      Blue is gauge lights
      brown is start
      black is Battey Neg -
white is the kill spark wire to CDI when it is grounded

Now I have a problem with my outboard will not shut off. I had to yank the spark plugs out to stop.

we have no idea what motor you have.
can you post a model # with year and HP too.

I have no idea if this motor even has a cdi
I am guessing this is a Yamaha since this is a web site for Yamaha, but that does not mean it really is a Yamaha

maybe a bad ground wire/ connection, bad switch, or bad white wire /connection are some guesses if this motor has a white wire to a CDI

I would start by taking a wire and grounding one end of it to the engine block and then hooking the other end to the white wire at the CDI to see if that kills the spark to the plugs.
if it does kill the spark, find the bad connection or wire that is keeping the key and kill switchs from making the ground connection

I have two wires going to my kill switch button now, and I think I only had the white wire connected before. Will reply in a few hours.
                Thanks for your assisstance.

If you connect a known ground source to the white wire, while the motor is running, are you saying that the motor will not stop?

                      Correct.

where did you connect the known good ground wire?
At the CDI or somewhere else?

I didn't know where to attach.

I asked you where you attached it.
you said it did not do any good when Boscoe99 asked, so you had to hooking it up somewhere

I was only attached via the bullet connections and clips. I didn't know where else to attach. On the kill switch itself and the harnesses.
