  • Shift Rod LX200TXRY

Gents - two part question. Is there another manual that has more narrative other than this one? Trying to unstick the shifter rod, not much direction in this manual other than parts list & diagrams. Now for my problem, upper rod is seized. Almost looks easier to take the power head off to get at it - or is there another way. I'm soaking the top with BP Nutblaster. Lower unit is off thinking I might be able the twist it from below. Anyone have any success breaking it free without major surgery?

The Yamaha service manuals are written for trained Yamaha mechanics. Hard for a common man to make sense of some of them. Even bewildering for a trained Yamaha mechanic at times.

The power plant has to be removed to gain access to/remove the shift rod.

Might have dodged the bullet for now. Seems BP Nutblaster might have worked. Going out to get a grease gun extension to reach that fitting way under. Good time to go thru both engines.
