  • Prop shaft grease fitting

I have a 1996 S250TRXU that I've owned for about a year. The prop shaft housing has a grease fitting at the 3:00 position as you look at the prop shaft. I can't get any grease into it, even after replacing the zerk fitting. My guess is that this has not been greased in a long time and it is probably plugged up.

What's the best way to clean this out - remove the grease fitting and shoot it with solvent? Maybe penetrating oil? My worry is that I could possibly destroy the shaft seal (which looks great for now). Thoughts?

    doesn't do anything really.
the only way to unplug it is remove the carrier and soak it several days in solvent and trying to run a small wire down the passages.
its was designed to lube between the carrier and the housing but never really worked right.

Thanks - one less thing to worry about.
