  • Build Date from F300 Serial #

It seems Yamaha no longer stamps their motors with the month and year of manufacture

Below are two serial #'s from F300's built I think? in 2022 or maybe 2021.

Can anyone here help me determine the build date for each?

These are each Left handed rotations. One is a DES engine, the other is not.

    6KB X 1001073 for a LF300XSB <<< DES engine

    6KG X 1000489 for a LF300XCB

    Thank you,
    Jack

Side note - most (if not all) manufacturers have been doing that for some time, now. "Inservice" date is more important in terms of warranty.

Understood. Thanks Dennis. I am just curious as to when these motors were built.

The DES motor is on a 2022 model year Grady-White.

The non DES motor is from a re-power I did on my own boat one year ago.

I believe Boscoe99 can date from serial numbers

Are you saying that the label on the motor is not there?

Thank you Boscoe. Sorry but I didn't think to pull the hood and look for a label.
I was expecting to see it on the outside upper bracket area.

I think you meant December 2020 (not 2000).

              Appreciate your help! Thank you!

Yamaha changed the labeling location for the month and year in 2018.

Like Walmart, just when everyone knows where everything is, they change it all.

maybe some were tired of the one on the outside being painted over or disappearing.
this is the 1st I have heard of that change, interesting and good to know.
                    thanks for posting that

To make it more difficult, the labels are on different positions depending upon the motor model.
