  • Ram tilt ram pin removal

The seal on my tilt ram for a 90hp (F90TLR) leaks and I need to remove the tilt ram pin located at the top of the ram piston.

It looks like it has never been removed and is severely corroded. I would be reluctant to pound on the pin because I might crack the frame that holds the pin.

Any suggestions on how to remove?

I drove mine out with a BIG C-clamp

and some odds & ends of pipe fittings and stuff from the "scrap" bucket

    (and another "pair of hands"

There are nylon bushings between the pin and the structure of the swivel bracket. So, there will not be any corrosion between the pin and the nylon bushings. Worst case will be the bushings are damaged but these should be replaced anyway if they are more than a few years old.

Just remove the circlip and drive the pin out.

Would it only take 2 beers if you used an 8 lb hammer?

Forget the beer...nice shot or 2 of the whiskey with some coke to wash down will do fine.
