  • What tool to adjust throttle tension?

The throttle on my new F300 control is a bit stiff and would like to loosen it up. What tool is needed to turn that screw thing? I can't tell if it's a standard hex or a star.

My guess would be a Japanese equivalent of a Phillips screw driver. I forget what it is called.

A small flat bladed screw drive can also be used.

          I am not clairvoyant.

No one wants to say what model of motor or control box they have.

What control box do you have? Probably a digital model.

The manual says 6X9 Flush Side Mount (DEC).

Is it behind a plastic cover that is on the side of the control box?

Post a picture of it, that would be helpful...

Did a hexagon (Allen) wrench come with your boat? The installation manual is showing one as being part of the control box. I am guessing that is for the friction adjustment mechanism.

Yes, but it seemed too big. Looked to me like it was supposed to be a star wrench. I'll try it again. It's in the shop right now getting it's 20 hour.

Should be part of the service IMO. Mention it to them.
