  • 115TLRC low speed roughness

'04 115 two stroke, this is my fourth season with this engine, will idle in gear smoothly around 750-800, but try 1100-1250 and she shakes. Rattles T-top. 1400 and smooth.
I've cleaned the carbs each winter, and used factory manual 18616-02-72 to link and synch.
Otherwise the engine is quick to plane, propped for 5500, fuel and oil use seem normal.
I'm guessing problem occurs when transitioning off idle circuit, has anyone else seen this?
The paper manual I have is for C models, could the link procedure be different?

TLRD with oil injection, not tlrc

running a little too lean at idle so having a hard time transitioning to higher RPM,
or the off idle ports have some plugging.
Might need to be cleaned with a hot bath sonic cleaner
have you made sure the timing is in spec (timing light) and transitioning properly?

No sonic bath but compressed air, torch cleaners and carb spray. Timing advances with throttle, roller and advance cam operate smoothly, adjusted to manual.
