  • water not coming out of engine

    have a 98 yamaha 2 stroke, just bought boat, need to clean water pump but did not get a service manual with boat.can you send me procedure for removing prop and gear case , ive done this before with a suzuki engine .also seen yesterday that there is a thermostat in the engine , can or should i remove it altogether.there was a lot of salt there.

    I Flush my motor religiously with a product called salt-away works graet.. I have a 1998 yammi no sign of corrosion

      Ennis I sent you the periodic maintenance and lower unit section to your email address. Have you cleaned out the "Tell Tale" hole? Many times debris get stuck up in there and block the outflow stream. Just run some heavy monofilament line or stainless wire up into the hole to clean it out.

        What model motor do you have - 3,4, or 6 cylinders?
        You can remove the thermostat(s) and inspect/clean them. You can also test them in a pan of heated water and thermometer - should open fully (0.120 inch) at approx 140 degrees.
