Yamaha 90A Gear Case Plate

I am servicing the whole lower unit.

Any ideas on how I am going to get this off without breaking it?

It's old brittle plastic - been on there at least 5 -10 years - maybe never changed ever.

I give my chances as very low to none - I have aleady broken the base plate for the water pump that was fused in...

Maybe I should just buy a new plate and accept my fate.

looks like the shift shaft seal housing to me.
which one of these 90s Yamahas do you think it is? Yamaha - Outboard - 90HP OEM Parts | Boats.net

on my C40 I drilled a couple of holes into it, screwed some screws into those holes, and pried the housing out using those screws.
bought a new housing with seals

^^^^ Exactly how I did mine on my 90TLR^^^^ Was pretty simple. Mine had been on there much longer than 5 years and in Salt water too...
