  • 2004 F150 tilt/trim to anode wire

When replacing my tilt/trim unit on one of my 2004 f150s I lost the wire from my tilt/trim to the anode. It was silver and had insulation on part of it. I ordered one but they're back ordered.
My question is What's special about this wire and can I produce one myself? How important is the gauge and type of wire?

should be stainless steel to keep from rusting away.
    they are bonding wires.
to makes sure all the parts are connected together and be protected

No reason you couldn't buy some decent stainless wire and crimp a few connectors. I don't see why the insulation would be necessary unless there was some other device other than motor nearby.

This is for u guys that have hydraulic steering. Seastar,Telflex now owned be Sierra. They have a kit they call "Salt water grounding kit". Around 20 bucks. It goes from the ram to side then to the tilt tube for grounding all the steering parts to protect and can save you a lot of money and down time. I'd say 95% of engines I sea don't have the inexpensive braided SS ground strap kit
