  • Need help with 6y8 system

Re fitting an old 20' double eagle. I have a 2009 Yamaha f250 fly by wire. I bought used controls, guages, hubs and wiring off a trusted mechanic at the dealership. I hooked everything up as per the diagram in the rigging book. I have a couple questions, but I will try to list everything I have first
single binnacle controls, round 6y8, 2 hubs, 4 bus caps, 10' bus wire, 6 device wires, power wire, ignition, fuel tank wires, main wiring harness.

Do I need to run 2 hubs as per diagram, or can I put the binnacle controls into the same hub as the gauges and cap both bus terminals.

When I turn the key on, the binnacle has a orange light, the tach shows nothing for hours.

I haven't started it yet, I just learning how this system works. The mechanic said sometime the controls aren't recognized and need to be hooked up to the scan tool.

I found in the search that I need to have the controls reprogrammed to the motor. But still need to know if I have to run 2 hubs

        well, that diagram shows,
        in addition to two gauges,
"Y-Cop" AND the Yamaha transom mounter 'Triducer"

neither of which are commonly used -
but means that 4 "things" need to be plugged into a hub
which only has 3 "Device" ports.

if you have only the two gauges,
then you need just one hub

Thank-you Fairdeal. I only have the 2 gauges.and the binnacle controls so I figured I only needed 1 hub.
