  • 1988 25 hp compression at 115 psi, Ok?

im trying to get this motor to run right after it sat outside on a boat for 6 years . it wont idle without the choke being on halfway. after checking compression it turned out to be 115 on both cylinders . a buddy came by and said that the upper cyl. wasnt firing or was weak due to the temp of the plug as compared to the other spark plug. im trying a new set of plugs tommorrow. im thinking if i get it to the lake i will run it for a good legnth of time and maybe it will loosen up or free up a stuck ring or something. any suggestions or advice? thanks

115 comp is good, look for other causes, new plugs will help. You can check if its firing on both by taking one plug lead off at the time .
Dont do it while its running with your hands , you will get a belt .
