2007 yamaha 50hp 2-stroke carb

Does anyone happen to know what this gunk in the carb is? Any help would be appreciated.

From what little I know, sodium sulfate. It precipitates out of gasoline.

Needs water to form those crystal whatever they are. Question at this point should be about inadequate filtering?

and check tank for free water in the bottom of tank

A fuel/water separator type cartridge filter mounted on the transom should help prevent this….then drain each carb float chamber about once a year at the end of the season…
