Difference Between Bolt on Digital Electric Steering and Built inDES

Buying a boat with two new f300s with helmmaster and the Joystick DES
i thought I was buying the built in system but when I saw the motors for the first time today the motors have the bolt on system.
dealer tells me they are functionally identical. Is this true?

Functionally the same. Electric steering. Steer by wire.
