  • Dry Ice

This went on for about 25 minutes with the water temp about 68F.

Seems the kids dropped some dry ice in the canal...

Thought it was interesting to say the least.

There are some pretty fun science experiments that can be done with it and your kids can even learn some real science along the way! A really cool one to do at home is an ice bomb. Take a plastic 2-liter soda bottle and put about a quarter to half cup of ice in it and about the same amount of water. Tighten the lid and set it in the middle of your back yard and move a safe distance away. Eventually the pressure will build up enough to cause a HUGE BOOM. There's no exact recipe - it just affects the amount of time it takes - but the anticipation and the crackling/creaking of the bottle as it expands is half the fun! You can do it with other size bottles - a 3-liter will be even louder!
