I have a 2003 Yamaha TXRB 150 hp 2 cycle carbureted outboard. The tach went out and I bought a new one and installed it but still doesn't work. Where is the sensor or wire for the tach on the engine? Also what color is the wire to the engine?
The wires for the tachometer run in the ten pin main engine harness to the key switch. From there a mini-harness conveys power, ground and signal for the tachometer. Wire colors are yellow, black and green.
