  • 2007 F50 Relief valve assembly

    Hi. New to the forum

Can anyone tell me if the oil relief valve assembly is spring loaded.

    Part description/Number RELIEF VALVE ASSY/6AW-13490-01-00

My oil filter seals keep blowing. I suspect it's the relief valve

I think so, given that the part number provided carries an F350 prefix.

While I have never personally opened up an F350 oil pressure relief valve I will stick my neck out and surmise that it uses a spring to keep a plunger or check valve seated until such time as the oil pressure rises to a certain value. Oil pressure over comes the spring pressure and the valve opens to bypass oil and in so doing keep the pressure down.

If oil filter seals are blowing it is time to inspect the oil pressurization system.

why no simply watch the oil pressure ?
however the regulator is replaced as an assy.
        remove the power head.
        remove the lower.
        remove the mid section.
        disassemble the midsection.
it screws into the powerhead adapter.
just installed on Friday and will be doing another about Wednesday.

see why I would rather observe the oil pressure FIRST.
what oil seals are you blowing??????
