VX200 TLRB overheating

My overheating alarm is going off when i come off plane and idle speed. I pulled my thermostats, they look good. I soaked them in venegar and cleaned them in case. Put them back in. Took the boat out at idle speed, went about a mile at idle to just over idle speed.

Then took it to 3500 rpm for a while. Came off plane went back to idle speed. about 100 yards idling the temp started to climb and then the alarm sounded again.

I'm thinking the poppet valve. Could it be anything else? My impeller is working fine. got a good stream coming out. So other than that i don't know what it could be. thoughts?

why even ask for other options until you find out if the most likely is the problem?

What did the stats and passages behind them look like?
and since you did not test to see if the stats opened and closed in spec what good was it ?
