  • F100 bogging solution?

    Hi
just new here and a computer dinosaur so I’m sorry if this is in the wrong place
1999 f100 acting up like seems everyone elses
starts well idles a slow speed fine
on throttle up will run nicely for 30 secs or so and then bogsright out
i have read this on numerous post but never a solution posted
    thks
new fuel pumps filters lines and still softens bulb as it is bogging
    thanks in advance

sounds like the VST is running out of fuel,
have you tried pumping the primer bulb while this bogging happens?

Keep the fuel fill cap off to check/diagnose for a clog in the vent or vent line. Do the "new" fuel lines include all the way from the tank?

Compression is 150 on all four
fuel flow is approx 1 1/2 qts/ min just cranking the starter
        no vts is carbs
pump bulb on bogging only delayed marginally
new hose right from portable tank to motor to take away any guesswork
        thks again

are you saying this motor uses 1 1/2 quarts of fuel per min just turning it over with the starter?
or the pumps will free flow that amount when disconnected from the carbs?

if pumping primer helps some, it still sounds like the carbs are running out of fuel for some reason or you have main jets plugging up with debris

And the vent on the tank is open? Just trying to think of easy things.

Using that amount of fuel when cranking with lines disconnected after fuel pumps
i thought dirty carbs too but when it goes in short spurts it rune perfeclly
but have narrowed most other things away but carbs cleaned and synced might be next

water or small debris in the carbs can finally past thru and run OK for a little bit sometimes.
I usually try rev up a motor and choke off the carb to help suck things thru, but stripping down and cleaning is the best and complete way to do it right
