  • 2012 f150xa exhaust corrosion?

I have a f150 installed in 2017 and warranty is a year pasted it. I didn’t think the f150 were part of the corrosion issue. I keep it maintained by the book and flushed after each trip and salt away every month. I was doing the waterpump and was looking at the exhaust port and found a couple holes from corrosion? Is the hole I’m seeing in the exhaust plate or bottom of power head?

also is it normal to see a little bit of oil on the exhaust port pictured? I did hook a hose up on the flush port and ran it for about 30 secs without the lower unit on and after that was when I notice a little oil on the exhaust port and little smoke on start up.

thank you. I’m trying to get my boat ready for cobia season with my son but looks like this may put a damper to our season.

with cowling removed, take a mirror to the lower cowling on the exhaust side and look for soot. If this thing drops idle with the cowling in place, exhaust has most likely burned a hole thru the lower block. I have a 2008 currently undergoing extensive repair for this , luckily block can be repaired instead of re-powering.

I believe the drive shaft TURNS THE OIL PUMP...

Running with the LU off, you have no oil pressure...

          Not so on any F150
they have always had the oil pump mounted directly to, and driven by,
          the crankshaft.

          But the original/early F75, F90, F115 models
DO use the driveshaft to drive the oil pump

I'm not sure what that is with the yellow circle,
but overall nothing looks remarkable IMO.

I have seen 'a couple' of reports of corrosion of the "manifold" in the F150 :

What seems to be 'more common' on the F150
              - while still rare -
is corrosion eating through the side of the "exhaust guide" -
which may be what stillmadatthem is referring to.

But you can't see that area looking up from below
