  • Yamaha Oil light stays on after being "dunked"

I accidentally submerged my 1998 15hp four stroke Yamaha outboard at the weekend.

After 3 oil changes, a new oil filter, new plugs and a total clean-up, the engine runs like clockwork but the red oil light stays on all the time now. I can't get it to turn off...someone please help!

Not to worry, I sorted it out myself. I unscrewed the oil pressure switch and blew it out with compressed air, then sprayed WD40 into it and stuck a little wire in the hole to see if the switch moved......then blew all the wd40 out with air and reassembled....and now the light is off! I'm gonna get a new oil pressure switch anyway just in case this one is faulty.
