  • trip hours always way off on STBD motor

    2014 F300 FBW.
about 1135 hrs about 300 on new powerheads that were replace by previous owner.

So something i just can't figure is every trip the STBD motor always read way more hours than actually we put on.
But it's only for the trip hours.

All my maintenance, total hours are on the money.

Why would the trip hours be so out of whack?
I only do a reset all when I fill up the fuel 100% as to keep track of how many gallon I burn and have left.

See pics for description of what Im talking about in case your're not following what I am typing..

    Thanks

    That's fascinating -
    and completely baffling.

The "total" hour number is accumulated by, and stored in, the engine ECM
so the instrument is displaying what the ECM is transmitting at any given moment

AFAIK, the "Trip" hours are accumulated by/stored in the display itself

    regardless,
I can't imagine what would cause that value to be "off" like that

I assume it goes to zero along with the other fields when you do a "reset all" ?

Yes when I reset all everything goes to zero.
