so I have a 26 ft edgewater with twin 250 Yamaha ox66s 2 stroke and I was wondering if someone can give me a list of what triggers the alarm

In a healthy motor, over temperature or low oil in the main oil tank. The main oil tank being the one that is mounted on the motor. They one that really counts.
I say healthy motor because there are defective wiring issues that can trigger a false alarm.
Some Yams will also trigger the alarm if a motor is cranked with the kill switch being activated. Try yours and see if it does.
In a Yamaha the warning tone will be a solid tone.
