  • Brushes in T/T DC Motor stick

    I have a 96 F90TLR with a T/T that is 3 yrs old.

I have a periodic problem of the T/T is either intermittent or gets stuck in its current position.

The fix is to bang on the DC motor to free up the sticky brushes or take the DC motor off and clean the brush assembly. I've done both.

I've done this 3 times and want to come up with a more permanent fix.

    Any suggestions?

new battery or connections maybe, not getting all the juice it needs.

or time for a new T&T motor, bad spot on armature maybe
be carful beating on the motor,
those magnets are glued onto the outer case, if one comes loose it will jam it up

I always spray the entire tilt/trim motor with white lithium grease and it sets up sorta semi- permanent and really helps to keep the water out of motor....maybe after you get your brushes clean/freed up maybe try the grease method.....the stuff will stay on there for years....
